3 Days - Quick Review
I understand now. California is beautiful, it even smells good. Really, sometimes you'll be driving along and you think what smells so good? Oh...it's the trees, or the flowers. Even the Pacific Ocean smells better than most large bodies of water.
This has so far been a very inexpensive vacation. We used frequent flyer miles for the flights and we tend to eat inexpensively even in expensive restaurants. The side benefit of being vegetarians.
I have a hundreds of pictures up on Facebook but I won't do that here. So if you're really really bored and want to see then please go find me and friend me, https://www.facebook.com/tlm0000 You may want to pop me a message letting me know you're Xanga name so I don't feel stupid.(OMG! My husband just opened the hotel room door and I smell breakfast. It smells really good. This hotel is a little gem.)
So, here's just a few;

Usually I get a window seat. This time my husband and I got aisle seats across from each other. I'm a convert.

This is a good representation of Santa Barbara. Eating Dinner outside at a Vegetarian restaurant on the main street.

Standing on a pier in Santa Barbara. I really have to stop keeping large square things in my pockets.

The obligatory oops.

This picture pretty well represents Carmel-by-the-Sea. Lovely little town. Filled with art galleries.

So you're driving down Pacific Coast Highway and there are just all these places to pull over and look at the ocean, or hang out on the beach. You never know what you're going to find when you stop at one.

One of them was filled with hundreds of Northern Elephant Seals. Oh the smells & sounds!

Or this beautiful view. This is not what public areas look like in Ohio.

This will be our home base for the rest of the week. This morning the weather has shifted down by 15 degrees and it's very cloudy. Don't care!!

That looks amazing. I've always been very fond of the beaches in Florida, but I have several friends that live in CA and they have been trying to get me to visit. After seeing your photos, I may have to go West! Have fun!
I loved the beaches in California! Have fun!
Great pictures! I am so glad that you two are having a good vacation.
Okay that beach might be a tad more beautiful than the beach I was at yesterday! hahaha

Ahhhhhh. I've looked at pics of the seals many time. I'm fascinated. Yes on the aisle seats. We almost always do that now. So enjoying your trip so far
I sent a friend request on facebook I love your profile picture
I suppose not sitting next to your husband you get to meet new people and still have the security of having him nearby.
I don't travel too far but then again maybe more traveling is in the future for me.
@Emme402 - It's a whole different feeling than Florida.
@strawberryfieldsgirl - I know!! We didn't even realize we were pulling into an observation point! It was just another stop to stretch our legs. There were HUNDREDS!
@Jst4e - back in my steak & seafood days I was the same.
@Nanny - Thank you for sharing. I am so glad I finally made it out here.
@SisterMae - I got ya! And thanks.
@PPhilip - haha, I did not want to meet new people! Whenever my seat mate tried to talk to me I would answer then immediately turn and start talking to my husband across the aisle.
Oh my god, look at all those seals!! How cool!
I was telling my dad about your awesome pics. He took that trip a few years ago, drove up the coast. He said it is beautiful along that area, but he thought it was even better as he went further north, said the redwoods are just amazing. Thought I'd pass that along incase you get bored and need more suggestions. LOL like you're gonna get bored on Vacation!!
@strawberryfieldsgirl - We have mentioned the Redwoods. It's just a little out of our driving range. I wish we had scheduled this trip for two more days than we did.
The Redwood's most southern reach is in Monterrey County near Cambria. The huge Redwood sorrel and ferns make it silent like a Cathedral. Here is a video on redwoods:
