Archiving your Xanga
I'm getting a lot of traffic to this post so I wanted to update the time stamp and pop it to the top of the list in case YOU still haven't grabbed your archive.

If you need a little help archiving:
On the top right side of your screen you should see your user name, click it,then click Settings.
Now on the left hand side of the screen you should see a long menu. Towards the bottom - click on Xanga Archives
Click the button that says UPDATE YOUR ARCHIVES. This may take a couple of hours. Come back later.
Once it's done it should look like the image below.
|Click on the Archive.zip file and save it to your computer.
You should be able to download anything that says *.zip.

I've done every thing down to the archive.zip file. Where is that? and How do I do it? Thanks for all this help.
Ok, I did it and now that I have it what do I do with it? lol I have to move it somewhere to keep it? When I click on things it brings up the posts but in a temp internet page.
@sapphire_sabotage - do you blog anywhere else? I would like to follow it when xanga closes it's last server.
@GoodGuyTheBoss - what browser are you using? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome?
@GrannyHappyNanny - Right now it's just a file, like any other document file. It's just using your browser as a viewer. As far as I know, now it's just something for you to save and look at, unless you want to do a lot of cutting and pasting and put it into a new blog site.There is a way to upload the wordpress file into a new wordpress blog (tlm0000.wordpress.com is me) but I can't help you with that because my archive is not working correctly and won't give me pictures or the wordpress file. Very frustrating!

Cool! Thanks so much! I thought it was all going to be gone forever! Now I'm wishing I would have took the time to get rid of some protected stuff first. Not sure where it is but really don't want anyone to see it. lol Now, is there anyway to delete the whole xanga so they don't transfer it anywhere else?
@GrannyHappyNanny - Not with any certainty. You can close your Xanga and I would assume they won't bother to move it. I know if it was my server I would not move accounts that were closed.
I thought I sent you a comment about the browser I use. I use internet explorer.

Sadly, with the size of my picture archive file, the server keeps timing out when downloading. Have tried from three different countries and on different browsers, so the problem seems to be Xanga's server. Very sad...Thanks, though, for sharing this information for everyone.
@christao408 - I have not been able to get my picture archive either. No answer to questions. Very disappointing

It's going to be end of mine day, except
before finish I am reading thhis wonderful post to improve my

When I initially commented I clicked the "Notify me when new comments are added" checkbox and now each time a
comment is added I get three emails with the same comment.
