Back when I use to be able to add links.
On Saturday we did our normal bi-weekly trip to Ann Arbor Michigan (we live in Toledo Ohio) for Grocery shopping. We do weekly trips to Kroger here in Toledo but Ann Arbor has Whole Foods and Trader Joes. It's surprising how many people we know that do the same thing. As I was leaving Whole Foods I heard someone call out my name. There was a woman smiling all happy at me. It was one of the very nice women from my yoga practice. * It's funny to see someone unexpectedly like that. The circumstances were so surprising that I didn't recognize her right away. A couple of nights earlier we had run to Krogers and a nice young man was smiling and talking to me. Took me a few beats to realize it was one of the Physical Therapists. He was the one who did my initial assessment. Very nice guy, but again, wrong place so I didn't recognize him.
Also unexpected was walking to our car at Trader Joes and suddenly seeing these guys running down the sidewalk in the shopping plaza.

They're just babies. There is a small pet supply store that keeps food and water on the sidewalk and I'm guessing they were there for lunch. The pet store lady came out and grabbed them. She said they had been there the day before as well.
Last night my husband, my sister and I went out to dinner. It was a Vegetarian Meet Up. www.meetup.com/The-Toledo-Vegetarian-Meetup-Group/. Only two other people came, Liz & James. Liz is the nice woman I had lunch with a couple of weeks ago and James is a really nice guy so it worked out just fine.
I really hope I can continue to do dinners with the group at least every few weeks or so. It's good to get out. We tried a Vietnamese restaurant that I had not been to but have been wanting to try. They treated us like we were their most important customers EVER. Have you ever been treated like that in a restaurant? It was a welcome change from the usual feeling like you're bothering people by paying them to feed you.
Look at some of the beautiful food:

None of my pictures came out very well. I need to check my settings on my camera. I keep changing the settings for a specific picture and then forgetting to change them back.
Off to find some breakfast. Shouldn't be too hard after all those trips to the grocery stores, right? Actually, I think I'll have leftovers from dinner last night.
Here, go read my sisters blog. I had some things to say on this topic but have run out of steam.
http://www.nobrain-noheadache.com/*It occurs to me that the people who do yoga regularly with me are all very nice. Is it the yoga practice or the yoga teacher that draws nice people? Are all people who do yoga regularly nice?

Yoga class is like doing a quest together with other people. Everyone is exploring the upper limits of their bodies and it is a shared thing.
It is good to be welcomed at any place. Businesses should have a welcome mat out for everyone. I hope you were an appreciative customer and inspire businesses to welcome you.
I hope I am an appreciative commenter at xanga and is welcomed at all the blogs that I comment at.
I have often been approached by people outside of where I would normally see them. I have to stop a minute to think of where I know them. Some are blasts from the past...from a job I worked when I was in my 20s! I reconnected with one such friend on FB after seeing her at the grocery store. It's funny that after all this time, we still have quite a bit in common.
I did have a couple of crabby people in my Yoga class, but on the whole that is not the norm. I do think that whenever you have a great teacher, though, you have happy and centered students, so in a way, it probably reflects back to the instructor.
That food looks great! A new Vietnamese restaurant opened nearby, serving Pho. I would love to go there, as I've heard it was amazing.
So I am wondering, what did the pet store lady do to the baby racoons after she grabbed them? They are so cute.
I can't recall being treated so well in a restaurant. I get tired of being treated like I am intrusion at a restaurant.
The food is gorgeous. It must have been a treat to eat something so beautiful.
I hope you have had a lovely weekend!
That food looks amazing!
To want to do yoga, you probably have to be nice.
I need to deal with my fear of asian food. It's stupid!!! I'm curious but I always fear because i don't know what I'm eating...but the really silly thing is...I don't know what I'm eating in typical America food either...so...I really need to deal with my fear of asian food.
I have those recog moments too. I hate it...especially if someone knows who I am and I'm pretty sure I've seen them before...or just the memory slips me things. Hate that more!
Now that is some pretty food! We kind of get treated that way in the Mexican restaurant we go to. I sometimes want to say "ok just leave us alone" not that I ever would but they come by every few minutes to ask how we are and if we need anything.
I've only been to Trader Joes one time. I really like it but it is almost 2 hours away so just don't get to go to it. Seems when we hit the city we have too much other stuff to do or I am riding with other and go where they go.
The babies are so cute. Though my hubby wouldn't think so. Farmers don't like the little critters at all!
Wow cute critters...
I so wish we had a whole foods or a trader joes close...
talk about beautiful food
I have cut way back on eating meat I only eat it a few times a week instead of every day
@PPhilip - You are much appreciated here! I try to be a very good customer. I spent many years of my life working in restaurants and I remember well what makes a good customer and what doesn't.
@Emme402 - This was my first foray into Vietnamese food. I love Chinese food, and Thai food so I was happy to see so many similarities.
@skanickadee - I don't know what she did with them. Hopefully let them go. Isn't it weird how restaurants and stores can make you feel like you're intruding on them? Very aggravating. You know I couldn't eat any of the beautiful things so at least they got to stay beautiful. I brought home all the raw veggies for my birds. I had a lovely vegetable fried rice with tofu.
@isitreal_no - It WAS. Do you use a pedometer? I do the 10,000 step thing as well.I use a FitBit and then I sync my FitBit with myfitnesspal.com where I track food & exercise. I was really surprised by how difficult it is to get in 10,000 steps. My average without doing extra stuff is more like 5000.
@Inciteful - haha, I don't think that's true!
@Ninasusan - Yes you do, because yes it is. Just eat vegetarian. You have to worry a whole lot less about unexpected things in your food that way. The very first time I ate with you was at a Chinese food buffet!
@GrannyHappyNanny - We were pretty close to that edge of just leave us alone to eat I think. Too much, but still sweet and nice.
Here is an example of seeing someone out of context. I recently opened an industry trade magazine and the first page I opened to was an advertisement for an upcoming trade show. There was a three-quarter page photo of a guy. I stared at the photo and thought, "that guy looks familiar." I swear I continued looking at it for at least another 20 seconds trying to figure out who it was before I realized I was looking at a photo of myself that I didn't know had been taken.
@tracy - Yeah I've joined a challenge that starts in about a week and a half tracking your steps, the team with the most steps over 16 weeks win. I got in almost 5000 yesterday without trying so I'm pretty excited. Once I'm in the swing of things I don't see 10,000 being a problem but I'll need to be aiming for 15-20 000 to be a winner! hahaha At least it's motivation and making me move
It's not a Fitbit though so it doesn't sync with anything else, it's just a pedometer that comes with the competition entry so everyone has the exact same one. There's something like 1700 teams world wide!
@ColdSkivvies - I think no one would ever accuse you of being a narcissist. Perhaps you need to spend more time staring in ponds.
The racoons are SO cute!!
That food presentation is absolutely beautiful! Wow!! Nice to know you can still get awesome service these days!
